All orchids in Denmark are protected and on the red list of endangered species. They make heavy demands on their biotope.

Several species grow on Harboøre Isthmus, the most common of which is the May orchid. These grow throughout the meadows, especially in the wetter areas. It can be difficult for non-botanists to distinguish one species from another.

The purple orchid grows here. Note that walking off the path is not permitted in summer from 16/4 to 15/7.
